Cadet Remembrance Sweatshirt, Lest We Forget

Nobody left alive remembers the Somme now, and within a generation nobody will remember Normandy either. Wearing the words is how the handover happens, from people who were told to people who will do the telling.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ "Love that I'm buying from a family-owned company. I wasn't disappointed. Outstanding quality and Service." (Martin B.)

Over 16,400 verified five-star reviews, and the two most common words in them are quality and service.

Plenty of sweatshirts at this price start bobbling after a few washes. Ours is 280gsm, an 80% ringspun cotton and 20% polyester blend, soft cotton-faced on the inside. Twin needle stitching at the seams, a taped neck so nothing rubs, and WRAP certified production behind it.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ "Great shirt, great quality and I highly recommend." (Sue W.)

Cadet Remembrance Sweatshirt For The Next Lot To Carry It

Cadets, young reservists, sixth formers who took the trip to Ypres and came back different. There is a whole generation now doing remembrance entirely at second hand, with no relative left to ask and nothing but the coach trip and the register of names to go on. They take it more seriously than people assume. Anyone who has watched a fifteen year old read out a name at a village memorial, voice going slightly, knows the handover is in decent shape. Being veteran-owned we get a good number of orders from cadet detachments and school CCF units, usually in bulk and usually in October. The other remembrance day shirts suit older buyers better. A 280gsm blend copes with being worn hard by somebody who is not yet careful with clothing.

The Thinking Behind Lest We Forget

Three words that started as a warning rather than a memorial. Kipling wrote them as a caution against national arrogance, and they only became the standard remembrance phrase afterwards, which is a useful thing to know when you are wearing them. The design keeps them isolated with plenty of clear space, no ornament, because the phrase carries an edge that decoration would soften. Younger wearers respond to that plainness. They have grown up surrounded by clutter and tend to prefer something that looks like it means it. Direct-to-garment printing gives the flat matte finish that suits this treatment, sitting in the fabric rather than shining on top of it like a transfer.

Cadet Remembrance Sweatshirt That Gets It Right

Anything bought for a teenager needs to survive being treated badly. Slung in a bag, worn three days running, washed at whatever temperature the machine happens to be on. The 80/20 blend and twin needle stitching handle that far better than the thin school-fair tops it will be sitting next to. The taped neck holds shape rather than going out at the collar within a term. WRAP certified production matters here too, since a fair number of these are bought by schools and detachments who ask exactly that question before ordering. Over 16,400 verified reviews back the durability, and repeat bulk orders from the same units say more than any of them.

Cadet Remembrance Sweatshirt FAQ

What is it made from and how well does the print last?

The fabric is 80% ringspun cotton and 20% polyester at 280gsm, sturdy enough for daily use. Printing is direct-to-garment, so the ink sits within the fibres and will not peel like a transfer. Even washed carelessly at 40 degrees it holds up, though inside out at 30 is better.

How does the sizing work for younger or smaller wearers?

Unisex sizing runs true and starts at XS, which suits most older teenagers and smaller adults. The cut works for young men and women without looking oversized. Check the size chart carefully when ordering for a group, as guessing across a detachment rarely goes well.

What is the turnaround for a bulk order, and can unit names be added?

Each garment is made in 1 to 2 working days with 1 to 3 days shipping, and bulk orders follow the same timings. Unit names cannot be added, as the design relies on the three words standing alone. Order by mid October for November parades.

Who is this design suited to?

Cadets, CCF units, young reservists and students who have visited the battlefields on a school trip. It gets worn at parades, at school services and around town afterwards. The plainness suits people who take it seriously and dislike anything that looks decorative.
