Fifty-six miles across East Falkland, carrying most of your body weight, in weather that changed its mind hourly. No vehicles, no shortcuts, just boots and bog and a deadline nobody was going to move. The word yomp meant nothing to the public before June 1982 and everything afterwards, and the men who did it have never quite understood why anybody found it remarkable. The design marks the dates, 2 April to 14 June, because those seventy-four days changed a generation of families. Cut from 280gsm heavyweight cotton and polyester, it has the weight for a cold morning at a service, and it sits with the rest of the Falklands hoodies for anyone who wants the anniversary marked rather than announced.
The Thinking Behind Two April To Fourteen June 1982
Dates do the work that adjectives cannot.
